Few ideas of how to make money online
— Oscar Wilde
No, I don’t believe that the money is the most important thing in life, but definitively a good part of our existence is spent into either earning or trying ways to earn more money.
Almost every aspect in the today’s society is pretty much about consuming, growing, expanding and success.
Making money online isn’t as easy as people are sometimes led to believe. The truth is that people are becoming successful millionaires, but it requires lots of time and efforts to be successful.
There seems to be that a new online-millionaire is born every day and the great thing about it is that there are so many ways to achieve it. You just need to find out which one is right for you. Just to name a few well known cases: Mark Zuckerberg the Facebook founder, Drew Houston the founder of DropBox, Sergey Brin and Larry Page the two founders of Google, etc… the list is quite long, but these guys made it happen.
By navigating the world wide web, there are millions of articles trying to find the answer on giving advice on how to make money online. This post is certainly NOT going to give you a definitive answer to this question but at least will give you some ideas of what to do next and what actions one could think of.
So, let’s start with some (simple) ideas:
Sell your goods
Have you got an old mobile phone or computer and don’t know what to do with it? There are lots of opportunities to sell your stuff online.
Sites like amazon, buy.com, craiglist, ebay, ecommerce, etsy, oscommerce, could help you with this. You might create your own web site too and start selling stuff that you don’t need anymore. Why not extend this to buy cheap and sell expensive?
Small online tasks
Sites like ShortTask.com, UserTesting.com, connects online job seekers with providers. So by doing certain things that you are good with you might earn some money.
Paid To Click is another online business model that draws online traffic from people aiming to earn money from home. PTC websites, act as middlemen between advertisers and consumers; the advertiser pays for displaying ads on the PTC website, and a part of this payment goes to the viewer when he views the advertisement.
Find your middleman!
Buying and selling domain names
As with any other product, you can buy domain names (URL addresses) and sell them later on by a higher price. GoDaddy.com and other providers sell unused domain names for about $10. To check which domain to buy one may run tests to determine how often certain key words are searched and possible target for someone to offer good money for it.
Make Money Through Google Adsense (blogging)
If you are a blogger, you can make it big and successful too. One think you can do is integrating the Google AdSense (or other advertising providers) services in your web pages. Anyway you’ll need to be creative and set up a site which will become your platform to write on whatever your interest may be. The most difficult part is to build a following and readership, but is not impossible as few examples shows it. In 2008, Johns Wu, the founder of Bankaholic.com, sold the site to Bankrate, Inc. for $14.9 million. Entrepreneurial tech site TechCrunch was acquired by AOL in 2010 for $30 million, making its founder, Michael Arrington, a wealthy man, etc…
Unfortunately I haven’t got rich with my blog. YET 🙂
Ok, accepting donations won’t make you supper rich but is an option too.
There are widgets that can enable you easily to integrate the service directly in your blog, like the one shown below.
Investing online, has become very common for individual investors and traders over the past decade with many, brokers now offering online trading services and platforms.
Investors are allowed to purchase and sell such securities as fixed income, equities/stock, options, and mutual funds.
Some of the popular online brokers include: E*Trade, IDealing, Scottrade, TD Ameritrade, and Fidelity. Schwab is an example of a hybrid broker combining a traditional, brick-and-mortar brokerage house with discounted trading online, with the usual benefits of both available to customers. Commissions vary from broker to broker, depending on the services included with the account.
Do it at your own risk! And before starting any online trading be sure what are you buying!
If you are experienced writer and able to write about various topics, there are web sites where you can sell your work, for instance to other bloggers. Sites like Zemanta, MyBlogGuest, EightfoldLogic & Whitespark could help you find the topic and people willing to pay for your work.
And the list goes on….
This article is a bit unusual as this topic is not something this blog is about, as I am passionate about Coding, Software Architecture, and computer related topics, but just wanted to contribute and to perhaps help whoever may be in need to find its own way of making the end of the month a bit more happier 🙂
